GREEN GOLD KAUPAPA

Here is the GREEN/GOLD kaupapa!  This is what we have to achieve in order to be a GREEN/GOLD ENVIRO-SCHOOL!  Do you think we are on the right track?

Recently this was re-written by the children in the Enviro-Council so that it is easier to understand!  Here is the new re-written version of the Green/Gold Kaupapa.  Well done Gore Main School students, it is great to have your thoughts and input about what has to be done in order to achieve Green/Gold!

Aiming for GREEN GOLD

Gore Main School is aiming to be a GREEN GOLD ENVIRO-SCHOOL by 2018!  We have been working really hard around the school and community to make sure we are showing sustainability, treasuring our ground/community, being actively involved and respecting every one and thing for their difference and diversity.  These are core principles (kaupapa) for Enviro-Schools.  Here are some photos of us demonstrating some of the things we think are important as being an ENVIRO-SCHOOL!

History of Enviro-Schools at Gore Main School

Recently we had a look back through past Enviro-Group initiatives and realised that there has been a lot of work done around the school and community over the past few years!  We hope you are enjoying the compilation of the photos and slides we have!

Adventure World

Over 2016 Gore Main School designed and built 'ADVENTURE WORLD'.  This is a space for children to explore and be curious in.  It began as an empty paddock adjacent to our school grounds and has ended up being an area where children can thrive and be creative in.  There are children outside every day building huts, using their imagination, playing with the hens and learning how to take risks outside.   Each class had their own input into the paddock and designed different equipment, such as a trench, rugby posts, hen-house etc and play structures like tyre runs.  These are to be used by our children and community.  'Adventure World' is a fabulous asset and taonga for Gore Main School.

Here are some pictures of adventure World...

Borland Lodge Enviro Hui 2016

This year the enviro hui was at Borland Lodge near Monowai and we had the opportunity to camp overnight! Mrs M, Miss Mckenzie and four lucky enviro group girls went along to the hui.
On the first night we went out in the dark to set possum traps and an ink tracking tunnel (to see which pests were in the area). In the morning the girls checked the trap and found we had caught a possum! In the tracking tunnel they found weta and mouse footprints and mouse poo. Later that day we went rock climbing and abseiling down a natural rock face along the Borland Road. We had a fantastic time at the hui and can't wait for next year's hui!
